Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County is offering Hope for the Holidays, which is a day of healing intended to help grieving children. This event will be held on Saturday Nov. 7th, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Victory Heights United Brethren Church, 5978 US Rt. 322, Franklin, PA 16323.
The joyful holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas are times for family reunions and children’s excitement, but if you have experienced the death of a loved one, the holidays may intensify the pain you are feeling. It is often very difficult to rejoice and celebrate when you are grieving.
Hope for the Holidays will provide a therapeutic, fun setting where children can talk openly and share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences. At the same time, they will benefit from guidance and support from our trained bereavement volunteers. Activities will focus on ways to cope with the upcoming holidays with workshops on grief and holiday crafts. The day will conclude with a holiday meal. Each child will be assigned an adult volunteer counselor who will provide support and supervision throughout the day. Hope for the Holidays is geared for children ages 6-18 years of age. If you as an adult are struggling with your grief journey, please contact VNA of Venango County at (814) 432-6555 for further support.
Space is limited, so please call us immediately for an application. The registration fee is $5.00 and checks can be made payable to Venango VNA Foundation. Financial assistance is available if needed. The last day to register is October 30th, 2015. It will be your responsibility to transport your child to and from the event.
Hope for the Holidays is made possible by the generosity of the Venango VNA Foundation.
